We make fabulous cakes. Every cake we make is made from scratch using the finest ingredients (really)! We make every cake so that those who eat them say "wow" when they see them and "wow" when they taste them. Our cake flavor list and pictures of our cakes are soon to come.

The Fisherman
This week we only have birthday cakes for the family to do. My step dad asked for our German Chocolate Cake (so good). He doesn't like all the frills, so he asked for very little decor. We are still going to make a figure of a man fly fishing in a stream as the cake topper for fun. I thought I'd show everyone some of the steps to make a figurine for a cake topper. I start with some cloth covered wire and cover it with modeling chocolate. This makes a "skeleton" for the figure. Next I made some clothes for the fisherman out of fondant. I made his head and hands out of white modeling chocolate mixed with fondant because it easier to make facial expressions with this mixture. Check out the pictures of the steps to make a fly fisherman cake topper. These first two might not look like much but you'll see how the finished product comes together. Sorry these pictures are on they're sides - I'll turn them right side up next time.

Wedding Cake Sampling
Yesterday I met with an engaged couple for a wedding cake sampling. We did not go small, simple, or easy. We made four mini cakes, each with individual designs. They are ordering a cake covered with butter cream, no fondant, but we did put some fondant decor on each of them because it so much more lovely than all butter cream in my opinion.
The couple was so delighted to sample these cakes, and commented on how they were so impressed that I did not just bring some cupcakes or slices of cake. My mom and I really try to make everything we do exceptional. The couple chose spiced pear (yellow cake with a caramel spiced pear filling and a vanilla buttercream). They said that all the flavors were so good and it was hard to choose one, but the pear won because their theme is "the perfect pear".
They decided to pick Princess Buttercup ( chocolate cake, peanut butter buttercream with peanut buttercup chunks for filling, and peanut butter buttercream icing) for the grooms cake to present at the rehearsal dinner.
I'm looking forward to doing the cakes for them next month.
